Purchasing a new home is an exciting milestone filled with dreams of the future, a sense of accomplishment, and the endless possibilities that come with a fresh start. It’s a process brimming with anticipation, decision-making, and plenty of twists and turns. For our client, the joy and excitement of move-in day at their stunning newly constructed home, quickly turned into the realization that their house was still a blank canvas. Without furniture or finishing touches, the home lacked the personality and comfort needed to truly feel like their own.
That’s where we came in. The Sky Lodge Project presented the perfect opportunity to start with a clean slate and transform it into a space that felt crisp, inviting, and uniquely suited to the client’s tastes and lifestyle. Our mission was clear: to design a refined home without sacrificing warmth, balancing an elegant aesthetic with functionality and comfort.
The foundation of our design plan was a crisp and contemporary vibe that embraced simplicity while layering in thoughtful details to make the home feel lived-in and welcoming. We carefully selected a color palette that blended cool blues and greens, lending the interiors a calming yet vibrant energy. These hues provided the perfect contrast to the clean white walls and black accents that defined the architectural details of the home. This interplay of colors and tones created a harmonious backdrop that felt both refreshing and timeless.
Every choice was made with intention, from selecting furniture pieces that offered both style and comfort to sourcing textiles and decor that added warmth and texture. Soft rugs, plush seating, and layered fabrics created inviting spaces, perfect for their beloved cat Jaguar. Sleek lighting fixtures and carefully curated artwork infused the home with personality. Each room was designed to tell a story, incorporating elements that reflected the client’s tastes and hobbies.
Pro tip- velvet like fabrics are great for families with cats. For some reason cats tend not to scratch velvet fabrics as they can’t get their claws in the weave.
Throughout the process, we collaborated closely with the client to ensure the home not only looked stunning but also functioned seamlessly for their daily needs. We wanted to create a cozy sanctuary in the primary bedroom by adding a lime wash finish to the walls, a darkened ceiling and gorgeous double draperies. One of the standout features in this project is the backlit wood paneling, a detail that combines texture, warmth, and visual intrigue. The subtle glow emanating from behind the paneling creates an ambient effect, drawing attention to the natural beauty of the wood while adding depth and dimension to the room. This feature serves as both a focal point and a complementary backdrop, pairing beautifully with the organic finish of the lime wash walls and understated elegance of the surrounding decor.
The guest bedrooms were thoughtfully designed with entertainers in mind, creating spaces that balance individuality and versatility. Each room was crafted to adapt seamlessly as the couple moves through different stages of life, offering both functionality and personality. To achieve this, we curated three distinct looks, each with its own mood and character. For two of the guest bedrooms, we embraced a bold approach with moody color drenching, enveloping the spaces in rich, deep hues that create a cozy, intimate atmosphere. These rooms invite relaxation and offer a striking contrast to the rest of the home, making them perfect retreats for visitors. The third guest bedroom, in contrast, was designed to be light and bright, exuding a sense of openness and airiness. To tie in our client’s passion for aviation, we incorporated custom artwork of planes and helicopters.
The Sky Lodge Project showcases the remarkable impact of thoughtful design. What started as a blank slate has been transformed into a beautifully curated home that seamlessly blends warmth and elegance while reflecting the client’s unique personality. Intentional design can elevate an empty space into a stunning, meaningful haven, where cherished memories are created and life is celebrated in style.
