We are so excited to share a project reveal that one of our favorites to date, lovingly nicknamed The Home-y Project. This home quickly became a Blue Copper favorite, not only because we had the absolute best clients, but because the design process was full of creative problem-solving and heartfelt collaboration.

Our clients came to us with one simple request: “We just want our space to feel homey.”

And with that, The Home-y Project was born. At its core, this design was all about creating warmth, personality, and connection, the kind of home where you instantly feel comfortable taking your shoes off and settling in.

A Project Reveal Designed for Real Life

The best homes don’t just look beautiful they work beautifully for the people who live in them. From the start, our goal was to design a space that blended cozy comfort with intentional function. Our clients loved entertaining, whether it was intimate dinners with friends or big family gatherings, so flexibility became a key design driver.

One of the main challenges was that this home didn’t have a dedicated dining room. But that didn’t stop us, instead, we created one. Using a strategically placed extendable round dining table, we carved out a space that easily transitions from casual meals for two to lively game nights and dinner parties for eight. This design move not only solved a functional need but also became one of the most loved focal points of the home.

Layering Warmth and Texture

When someone says they want a space to feel “homey,” we translate that into layers of texture, warmth, and natural materials. For this project, we focused on cozy fabrics, tactile finishes, and subtle patterns that invite you to touch and linger.

We incorporated a soft, earthy color palette, think warm neutrals, soft greens, and gentle terracotta tones paired with organic materials like wood, linen, and woven accents. The result is a timeless, lived-in look that feels both elevated and inviting.

Lighting played a big role, too. We balanced functional task lighting with soft, ambient layers that cast a warm glow throughout the home. It’s the kind of lighting that makes every evening feel like a cozy night in.

Creating multiple seating zones was another key element. Each area feels distinct yet connected, encouraging conversation and togetherness throughout the space.
